Is mór an phribhléid agus onóir dom bheith tofa i mo Chaptaen na bhFear ar Ghalfchumann Cheann Sibéal do 2019. Ba mhaith liom buíochas a ghabháil leis an IarChaptaen Paddy as mé a ainmniú. Táim féin agus Uachtarán na bhFear Dónal Ó Loingsigh agus an coiste ar fad ag súil go mbeidh ardbhliain againn.

It is a great honour for me to have been ratified as Captaen at our recent AGM. On behalf of myself and Uacharán Dónal, I wish all committee members and staff of the club many productive and enjoyable days in the coming year.I look forward to meeting club members during the year and hope you will take the opportunity to introduce our wonderful course to your friends.

I would also like to wish Margaret, our Lady Captain and Máire Uacharán na Mban of 2019 all the best this coming year.

It’s with great sadness we remember our dear friend and member of the club Garry Partington who passed away on the 19th of October.
Our deepest sympathies and condolences to his wife Edel and daughters Amy and Sarah.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anamh dílis.

    le dea-ghuí,
    Ignatius O’Connor

    Message from Captaen na mBan

Mar a dúirt mé ag an gCruinniú Bliantúil, is mór an onóir dom a bheith tofa mar Chaptaen na mBan don mbliain atá romhainn. Ceann Sibéal is close to my heart and I will do my utmost to merit the honour of being Lady Captain.

At the AGM, I was delighted to pay tribute to Áine Barry as outgoing Captain for the endless work she carried out on our behalf and for the gracious and stylish way she represented us – truly a hard act to follow. I also mentioned the wonderful work done by our outgoing Uachtarán, Bernie who did trojan work along with Eibhlín Ní Shéaghdha who is stepping down from the Ladies Committee. We will miss them both greatly but I welcome Máire Ní Mhaoileoin as our new Uachtarán and Elfriede Mc Namara who will join our Committee.

On behalf of Coiste na mBan, I was also delighted to nominate Gráinne Rigney for election to the Management Committee – Gráinne will be an excellent contributor.

I look forward to the year ahead – with some trepidation, I must admit – but I feel very fortunate to have the support of the Committee, who combine lots of experience with a proven commitment to the success of our Ladies’ Club.

Finally, I was absolutely delighted to be able to propose Cora Mc Carthy as Vice Captain. Cora is not just a good friend but highly organised and a natural leader by example.

I also want to wish Ignatius and Donal well in their posts over the coming year; I look forward to working closely with them to continue the excellent relationships between the Men’s’ and Ladies’ Clubs.

Tá súil agam go mbeidh gailf taitneamhach agus rathúil ag gach ball againn don mbliain atá romhainn.
